What type of music should be played in a Vet Hospital?
June 16th, 2009I work as a technician in a Vet hospital, and the manager has asked me to put together a playlist of music to play during the day. In the past we have sporadically played classical music, and have gotten several complaints from customers/staff that it makes it feel too stuffy. The manager has only asked that I choose music without lyrics ( I'm sure to keep the staff from singing along while working). What kind of music (genre or specific examples) should I look at for filling out this playlist? Thanks for any help.
Do a search for soothing or relaxing music. I know there are many songs out there with sounds of nature or different instruments from around the world. Some of it is really nice but some of it COULD put somebody to sleep so make sure to find upbeat songs.

Why don't you explain your problem to the vets themselves and pass out questionnaires so they could choose songs they'd like to hear? Nothing is worse than constant elevator music, show tunes, and classical music if you were raised on rock and roll.
I'd also suggest that there be areas of the hospital where the music is silenced. Just as not everyone can stand to listen to TV constantly played, there are those who would prefer silence from music as well.
